It is so difficult to write sometimes. Not because you are out of ideas...there are just too many of them and you want each of them to get a blog to themselves. Not happening. I started a new blog entry for marathon running but it never got a post to it. Actually, I did not feel anything magical either...I did not even finish with a smile. Once I was done, I was thinking when and how to do the next one. Was it so difficult...the five months of training pass in front of my eyes in a flash...and I come to a conclusion that it was not so bad, not so tough. Given the pain, the time invested, the uncertainty of keeping a commitment, the fear of giving up, the implications(on some nameless lives) of giving up...injuries both mental and physical.
I guess that is where the magic is. That human spirit ( which is also within me) to make a difficult task easy and to keep looking for more. If anything, the experience has been humbling because I proved it to myself that a human being can achieve feats. It makes me respect people even more because they are capable of great deeds: running triathlons, biking across a continent, climbing Mt Everest, building dams singlehandedly, establishing schools, changing ideologies, taking bullets to save lives...the list goes on. It just takes some faith, some of your own and some of the people that matter to you.
And even greater respect for those who know that they could be heros but decided to stand and cheer, those who were gracious enough to let others carry the batons. probably such people are very much at peace with themselves, one with God. As an Indian ad ( Mahindra Rodeo) so wisely says:" ...because when you have real power, you don't need to show it" ;)

Hi... proud to know that you finished the marathon. When you started with it, I just thought that this is not possible... I mean.. a girl like you who was so tender.. how can she run a marathon.. but you did. I told you I won't congratulate... I take pride in it. And, i can understand the feeling.... a bit... but most of the time (though..those were not marathon), i used to feel that .. thank god, its over.. And you were thinking about the next one. :)
I know, now you would be feeling stronger both physically and mentally.. and.. I know its just a beginning.. Keep going.
Ajeet :)
I remember the time when you took part in St. Dominic Savios sports day. The event was high jump. You had qualified and were about to make your first jump.
Most of the crowd knew you as the head girl of the school. You looked geeky back then. And most of them never expected you to make the jump successfully.
Except two boys. One with incredibly curly hair and the other with drooping dreamy eyes. We stood there leaning on the pillar in front of the boys restroom looking at you about to make the jump. We were hoping against hope that you will succeed. But we knew the world didnt depend on the jump so we were pretty cool. Even if you crashed, we knew you would laugh it off.
Anyways, you crashed. The crowd said 'expected' but both of stood there. Unmoved from our previous positions.
You had landed on the bar. While you dusted yourself and your friends rushed to your side, Divir said, 'she has poetential, but it will take some time for it to show'. I said, 'I agree'.
You had covered a height much much higher than the required one. The timing was a little awry. Thats it.
No one else noticed, just those two boys.
Today, I can say that you have shown that potential.
@ Shantanu: Did not know that you too were up there while I was jumping, and did not know that you two had this conversation.
In hind sight it is good that I did not know. And I hope you know that I don't need to say thank you :)
@ Ajeet: Did not know you existed on Blogger! Thank you :)
